500 new African libraries in the past five years
Chris Bradshaw of Portola Valley, California, founded the African Library Project in 2005, with the goal of increasing literacy in Africa. The project has created more than 500 small, free-lending libraries in various countries of Africa, such as Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland, and Malawi.
